Giving back to communities

Vodacom Foundation – celebrating two decades of delivering social value

For over 19 years, we've been contributing to societal development by promoting education and health as well as safety and security initiatives. We've partnered with reputable organisations since 1999 to grant over R1.2 Billion towards various programmes including; anti women and child abuse, facial reconstruction surgeries and providing Internet connectivity in schools.

Vodacom has been committed to giving back to communities through partnerships with government, industry leaders and other technology partners. For a summary of our SA initiatives, click here.

We're committed to using the resources at our disposal to improve access to education, health and safety, which are the core focus areas for the Vodacom Foundation. These three areas are also in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with the set of bold new Global Goals that were formally adopted by the 193-member United Nations Assembly on Friday, 25 September 2015. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what they did not achieve. They are integrated and indivisible, and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. The goals and targets will continue to stimulate action over the next 15 years in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.

The Global Goals resonate well with the core activities of the Vodacom Foundation, and to this end, we declare our full support and commitment to continue driving sustainable initiatives which can help alleviate some of the country's most pressing social challenges.
